I had the pleasure to read the book just during my flight to Seattle and it was a pleasure reading it. Right from the beginning with defining what cloud acronyms are there the autors take a journey with the reader to Azure Stack. You will learn how to prepare, setup and configure the Azure Stack Development Toolkit (ASDK) and add the first workloads (Infrastructure as a Service - IaaS and Platform as a Service PaaS) using ARM templates either from the Azure Marketplace Syndication or using your own custom templates. The authors deep dive their knowledge & experiences and provide a Level 300+ book for Azure Stack, the one and only consistent hybrid cloud solution on the market, as of today. The book is really worth reading it, if you want to learn Azure Stack, operate it or have to plan for it as a consultant.

A great book to learn about azure and administration of resources.

I was excited to finally sit down and read this book. I would have to say that even with my knowledge of Microsoft's Hybrid cloud and the work I do daily with Azure Stack I found this book to be a great resource to have. I feel that the authors did a great job breaking this book down into very throughout sections. Coming from Private Cloud background I really enjoyed the Hybrid Cloud sections and the overview of Azure Cloud. I even enjoyed the sections on ITIL and DevOps within the Hybrid Cloud. The sections on Azure Stack where very good review for me and I think the authors did a great job covering one of my favorite new technologies.I will have to say I really got the most out of Part IV. I do not do enough automation and really enjoyed the in-depth sections of the ARM templates and automation. I look forward to being able to refer back to this book whenever I need a refresher or when I hit a roadblock with areas of automation I normally don’t work with on a daily basis. If you are just getting started this is a great resource to have at your side. If you have been working with Azure and Azure Stack for a while, this is another great resource to have handy as well.

I have read this book and find it a great place to start before diving deep into Azure Stack. Having install several Azure Stack systems in production I find some of this guidance helpful. Especially some of the last chapters are very good where areas like ARM templates, Automation and customizing Azure Stack was most valuable. The reason that I'm not giving 5 stars is that some of the early chapters (Part 3) are a little to basic to bring enough value to me, that being said depending on what level you are at when reading the book it might be valuable to you, but in that case you might find some of the later chapters too deep. I totally understand that you can save the world in one book and this forces you to do a little for all, which is fine. I actually used some of the examples in the book in my session at Ignite 2017, which I found very helpful, thanks to Jacob Gottlieb. Part 4 is my favorite due to this. The finial question, will I get the book; Yes.
